Avon Comedy Show Offers Mental Health Tips for Connecticut Families

The University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford is teaming up with NAMI to bring a unique comedy show to Avon that addresses mental health issues. The show, called 1 Degree of Separation, features comedian Brad Bonar who shares his personal experience with depression and mental health struggles. The premise of the show is that we all have a connection to depression in some way, either through personal experience or knowing someone who has dealt with it. The event will also include a panel discussion with local comedians who have lived experience with mental health issues. The show is scheduled for October 25 at Avon High School and is open to individuals aged 12 and up. The funding for the show comes from a grant from the Avon Greater Together Community Fund. Assistant Professor Lynne Benjamin emphasizes the importance of having open conversations about mental health to reduce stigma and encourage people to seek help. The show aims to raise awareness and generate discussion around mental health issues in the community. For more information about the event, visit the University of Saint Joseph’s website.
