Woman sentenced to life for murders of 2 young kids discovered hanging in basement of home

Lisa Snyder, a Pennsylvania woman, has been sentenced to two life terms without parole for the murder of her two young children, 4-year-old Brinley and 8-year-old Conner, who were found hanging in the basement of their home in 2019. The children were taken off life support and died three days later. President Judge Theresa Johnson described the crime as the most violent murder she had seen and noted that Snyder had shown no remorse.

During the sentencing hearing, Owen Snyder, the older brother of the slain children, called the defendant a “monster” and expressed his grief over never getting to see his siblings grow up. Lisa Snyder claimed that her son had been bullied and threatened to take his own life, but authorities found no evidence to support this claim. Police uncovered evidence of Snyder’s online searches for information about suicide and killing someone, as well as her viewing of a true-crime documentary series.

The defense had attempted to have the case dismissed, arguing that it was based on speculation, but the judge rejected this argument. Snyder had also tried to enter a plea of no contest but mentally ill to a lesser charge, but this plea was also rejected. The coroner ruled the children’s deaths as homicides due to hanging. Overall, the case highlighted the tragic loss of two innocent lives and the devastating impact on their family.
