The University of Connecticut (UConn) is gearing up for basketball season with a First Night celebration on Friday at Gampel Pavilion. This event will showcase both the men’s and women’s basketball teams, featuring challenges and competitions between the players.
First Night is a student-focused and free event, with a limited number of tickets available for Husky Athletic Fund donors, season ticket holders, and the general public. The evening will kick off with a block party on Jim Calhoun Way, with food trucks, games, a photo booth, a live DJ, and more.
Members of the UConn basketball teams will participate in challenges such as a coed 3-point shooting contest and a 5-on-5 scrimmage. The event schedule includes a pregame show, with doors opening at 6 p.m. and the official start of First Night at 7 p.m.
The general public and UConn students are invited to join the festivities outside Gampel Pavilion starting at 5 p.m. Claiming a limited number of free tickets can be done online at UConnHuskies.com/FirstNight.
