The University of Connecticut is gearing up for another exciting basketball season with their annual ‘First Night’ event celebrating both the men’s and women’s basketball teams. Taking place ahead of the 2024 to 2025 campaign, the event will feature a block party with food trucks, carnival games, photo booths, and a live DJ on Jim Calhoun Way starting at 5 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m., with pre-game activities starting at 6:30 p.m. The main event will kick off at 7 p.m., with both teams participating in activities such as a 3-point shooting contest and 5-on-5 scrimmages. The grand finale giveaway will offer attendees a chance to win thousands of dollars in prizes. Although the event is free, tickets were limited and released on a first-come first-serve basis, with student and season ticket holders having the first opportunity to secure their spots. As fans eagerly await the start of the basketball season, ‘First Night’ promises to be an entertaining evening filled with excitement and anticipation for what lies ahead for the UConn basketball teams.
