NBC Connecticut reports that the police have identified the man who was struck and killed in Lisbon.

Richard Dupont, a 67-year-old man from Jewett City, was tragically struck and killed in Lisbon on Monday night. The incident occurred on River Road, where Dupont was hit by a 36-year-old man from Ledyard who was driving a Dodge Ram under the influence of alcohol. The driver veered off the road, hitting Dupont and a guardrail before colliding with a telephone pole. Unfortunately, Dupont succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The suspected driver has been charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle while intoxicated and illegal possession of a firearm while under the influence. The investigation into the accident is ongoing, with authorities actively seeking any witnesses or information related to the crash.

State police are urging anyone with information to contact Trooper Timothy Wengloski at Troop E-Montville. Wengloski can be reached at 860-848-6500, extension 5, or via email at timothy.wengloski@ct.gov.

This tragic incident serves as a harsh reminder of the dangers of driving under the influence, and the devastating consequences that can result. Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of Richard Dupont during this difficult time.
