FBI seeking Olympic snowboarder suspected of leading drug trafficking ring

Former Olympic snowboarder Ryan James Wedding has been charged with running a transnational drug smuggling operation that involved shipping large amounts of narcotics across borders and resulted in the deaths of four people. Wedding, who represented Canada in the 2002 Winter Olympics, is considered a fugitive by the FBI and has a $50,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. He is accused of leading a criminal enterprise that shipped hundreds of kilograms of cocaine across the Americas. Along with another Canadian citizen, Andrew Clark, Wedding faces charges of murder, conspiracy, and drug trafficking, potentially facing life in prison if convicted. The gang allegedly moved large quantities of cocaine from Mexico to southern California and then to Ontario, Canada using long-haul semi-trucks. Prosecutors claim that Wedding and Clark ordered the killing of two individuals in Ontario in retaliation for a drug shipment theft. The investigation, in partnership with local law enforcement agencies, has resulted in the seizure of over a ton of cocaine, firearms, ammunition, cash, and cryptocurrency. Prosecutors described Wedding as an Olympic athlete turned drug lord, accusing him of leading a criminal organization involved in trafficking and violent crimes, including murder. Several members of the gang have already been arrested and are expected to appear in court. Wedding and Clark are still at large, with authorities urging the public to provide any information that could lead to their capture.
