A tragic fire in Colchester on Saturday night resulted in the death of two pets. The fire started in a garage on Elm St. and quickly spread to the attic and siding of the home. Firefighters arrived on the scene and worked quickly to extinguish the flames using multiple fire hoses aimed at different parts of the home.
While five animals were rescued, sadly, a cat and a dog succumbed to smoke inhalation. However, two kittens were unharmed, and another cat was sent for further treatment and is now recovering well. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
