Two adults and a child were seriously injured in a single-vehicle accident in Taftville, Norwich. The incident occurred at 6:18 p.m. on Friday when the vehicle went off the road and collided with trees. The Taftville Fire Company #2 responded to the scene where they found three occupants, including a two-year-old child.
The investigation revealed that the vehicle was navigating a reverse curve when it crashed into two 20-foot trees, causing them to fall. The vehicle then spun and hit a third tree. While two occupants were able to escape the car, one remained trapped inside.
Firefighters used rescue ropes, the “Jaws of Life,” and other extrication tools to free the trapped individual, who was heavily damaged. All three victims were transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, with one of them airlifted by LifeStar helicopter. Fortunately, as of Saturday morning, all victims are reported to be in stable condition.
The Norwich Police Department is continuing to investigate the crash. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safe driving, especially on challenging roadways like curves. The community will be keeping the victims in their thoughts as they recover from this traumatic experience.
