The Las Vegas Aces defeated the New York Liberty 95-81 in Game 3 of the WNBA semifinals, led by Jackie Young’s 24 points. The Aces took control with a 16-point run in the third quarter to force a Game 4 on Sunday. If Las Vegas wins that, a decisive Game 5 will be played in New York on Tuesday.
This win marked the Aces’ 12th straight home playoff victory, a new WNBA record. Kelsey Plum contributed 20 points, A’ja Wilson had 19 points and 14 rebounds, and Tiffany Hayes added 11 points to the Aces’ victory. The Liberty’s Breanna Stewart led her team with 19 points, while Sabrina Ionescu struggled, scoring only four points.
After a close first half, the Aces dominated in the third quarter with a 16-point run while holding the Liberty to just six points in the period. The absence of Kiah Stokes due to a concussion did not deter the Aces from their win.
Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic and Hall of Famer Sheryl Swoopes were among the spectators at the game. With the series now at 2-1 in favor of the Liberty, the Aces will look to extend their playoff run with another win on Sunday.
