Dushanbe, Tajikistan – The Junior World Championships kicked off in Dushanbe, Tajikistan with some impressive performances on day one. Hui Xinran of China claimed the title in the -48kg category by overcoming Japan’s Yoshino Sachiyo with a sacrifice technique. The defending champion Fukuda Yamato also had a successful day, becoming a double junior world champion in the -60kg category.
The event saw Oi Iroha crowned champion in the -52kg category after defeating her teammate Nosho Senju in the final. Fukuchi Shuntaro claimed the -66kg title after his teammate Kentoku Kairi was disqualified for an illegal move.
The fans in Dushanbe were thrilled to meet Paris Olympic bronze medalist Somon Makhmadbekov and witness the excellent performance of their home-grown talent, including Loiq Kudbudinov who brought home a silver medal.
The atmosphere in Dushanbe was electric, with athletes and spectators alike praising the hospitality and organization of the event. Hui Xinran expressed his dream of becoming an Olympic champion and his gratitude for the warm welcome in Tajikistan.
