Zelenskyy of Ukraine introduces ‘victory plan’ to US lawmakers

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy unveiled his long-awaited “victory plan” during a meeting with US presidential candidates in New York. The plan outlines Ukraine’s conditions for a potential cease-fire, including long-range capabilities, defense packages, sanctions against Russia, and measures regarding Russian assets. Zelenskyy also expressed his intention to present these proposals at a meeting in Germany to advance peace efforts.

During the meeting, presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris both expressed support for Zelenskyy, with Harris pledging her backing for the Ukrainian leader. Trump, on the other hand, emphasized the need to stop the war in Ukraine and prevent Putin from winning. Despite his positive relationship with Putin, Trump has vowed to end the conflict without providing specifics on how.

The meeting between Zelenskyy and the US presidential candidates comes at a time of increasing tensions in the US regarding support for Ukraine against Russia. Harris has dismissed Trump’s suggestions as “proposals for surrender” and advocates for continued backing of Ukraine in its ongoing war with Russia.

In addition to increased support from the US, the European Union has also pledged to provide Ukraine with a loan worth up to 35 billion euros to help bolster its finances. However, Russian forces continue to advance in the east, posing a threat to Ukraine’s security. Despite facing challenges, Zelenskyy remains committed to pursuing peace and finding a resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.
