Shelton police have announced the arrest of a 21-year-old man in connection with a sexual assault that took place on the Riverwalk in August. The incident occurred when a 47-year-old woman was walking her dog on the Riverwalk and was approached by the man who tried to get to know her. The woman attempted to walk away, but the man physically restrained her, groping her breasts and buttocks. The woman was able to fight him off and provided a photo of the suspect to the police.
After sharing the photo with the public, detectives were able to identify a suspect who matched the description. The woman positively identified the man as her assailant, leading to his arrest. The man has been charged with sexual assault in the fourth degree and unlawful restraint in the second degree. He is currently being held on a $50,000 bond.
