Beloved pastor and police chaplain killed in motorcycle crash, funeral arrangements announced – NBC Connecticut

The funeral arrangements for Rev. Dr. Paul Krampitz, a beloved pastor and chaplain for the state police and local departments, have been set following his tragic death in a motorcycle crash on Route 9 in Berlin last week. Krampitz, 65, was riding his Harley-Davidson when he was struck by a car and killed.

Krampitz’s death has deeply impacted communities across Connecticut, where he served as the pastor at Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell. His wake will be held at the church on Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a funeral service to follow on Saturday at 10 a.m. The burial will take place at Gethsemane Cemetery in Meriden.

Due to the expected heavy traffic, Cromwell police have advised people to be cautious when traveling to the church at 50 Court Street on Friday and Saturday. Westbound traffic on Court Street will be closed on Saturday from 9 a.m. to at least 12 p.m. A funeral procession will also occur after the service, following a route from Court Street to Washington Road and West Street.

Overflow parking for the wake and funeral will be available at Edna C. Stevens School and Woodside Intermediate School. The community is encouraged to come together to honor and remember the life of Rev. Dr. Paul Krampitz during this difficult time.
