Top Israeli General Unveils Potential Ground Invasion Plans for Lebanon

Israeli military officials have intercepted a surface-to-surface missile launched by Hezbollah in response to Israeli strikes on Lebanon, as tensions rise between the two sides. The Israeli military is preparing for a possible ground operation in Lebanon, with the IDF Chief of General Staff Herzi Halevi stating that airstrikes were aimed at degrading Hezbollah. Hezbollah has fired dozens of projectiles into Israel, including a missile aimed at Tel Aviv, prompting a strong response from Israel.

There have been no casualties or damage reported from the missile launches, but the ongoing rocket fire has disrupted life for over a million people in Israel. The Lebanese health minister reported that over 50 people were killed in continued Israeli strikes on Lebanon, bringing the death toll to 615 with over 2,000 wounded. This week has been the deadliest in Lebanon since the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah.

Fleeing families have sought shelter in Beirut and Sidon, with many seeking to leave the country, causing a traffic jam at the Syrian border. The United Nations estimates that over 90,000 people have been displaced by the recent Israeli strikes in Lebanon. Israel has vowed to protect its citizens in the north, while Hezbollah continues to launch rockets in response to the situation in Gaza, making a ceasefire appear remote. The escalating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah raises fears of an all-out war between the two sides.
