“The Wall that Heals” exhibit, dedicated to honoring those who lost their lives in the Vietnam War, has arrived in Connecticut. The 375-foot-long replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. features more than 58,000 names of individuals who perished during the war. Port 5 National Association of Naval Veterans Executive Officer Brian Turco emphasized the significance of the exhibit for Vietnam veterans, providing them with an opportunity for healing and remembrance.
Navy veteran William Battaglia shared his experiences of the war, highlighting the emotional impact of the exhibit in bringing back memories of those who sacrificed everything. The exhibit, which has traveled to nearly 700 communities nationwide, serves as a memorial and an education center for students to learn about the sacrifices made for their freedom.
The Wall That Heals will be on display at 4510 Park Avenue in Bridgeport, open 24 hours a day until Sunday. The exhibit aims to provide comfort to veterans and their families while honoring the individuals who gave their lives in service of their country. Through this traveling exhibit, the community has the opportunity to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam War.
