Middletown man charged with shooting at point blank range


Middletown police have arrested 37-year-old Rondell Jackson of Hartford for a shooting incident that occurred on Liberty Street on Sept. 18. According to police, Jackson is accused of shooting a victim in the chest at close range after starting an altercation. Despite attempting to shoot the victim several more times, Jackson’s weapon malfunctioned after the first shot, and he then fled the scene. The victim was critically injured but survived after receiving emergency surgery.

Jackson is facing charges of criminal attempt to commit murder, first-degree assault, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and criminal possession of a firearm. He appeared in court on Sept. 25 and was held on a $1 million surety bond. This arrest is the fifth made in connection to the deadly 2023 shooting outside a Middletown hookah lounge. The Middletown police are determined to bring justice to those involved in the violent incident.
