Police in East Haven and Branford are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying suspects involved in a purse-stealing incident at a Stop & Shop on Hemingway Ave. The suspects attempted to steal an older woman’s purse and fled in a stolen blue Kia Sportage, leading police on a chase through Branford and eventually abandoning the vehicle in New Haven. Three males were spotted running from the scene, and police recovered numerous purses and backpacks believed to have been thrown from the vehicle. The suspects also tried to steal a red Ford Explorer before the purse snatch. If anyone has information regarding this incident, they are urged to contact the East Haven Police or Branford Police Department.
