Hezbollah launched a new type of missile at an Israeli military base in retaliation for an airstrike that killed one of its senior leaders. The rocket attack resulted in at least one person being wounded and caused rockets to be intercepted in Haifa and Nazareth. Israel reported monitoring the launch of around ten rockets from Lebanon, most of which were intercepted. The missile strike followed heavy exchanges of fire between Israel and Hezbollah, with Lebanon accusing Israel of targeting civilian areas. In addition, Israeli troops raided Al Jazeera’s office in the West Bank, ordering it to shut down for 45 days as part of a campaign targeting the broadcaster’s coverage of the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza. This comes after similar actions in July when Israeli forces raided Al Jazeera’s broadcast position in East Jerusalem. Al Jazeera continued broadcasting from Jordan, denouncing the move as an attempt to suppress media coverage of the ongoing conflict. The attacks and ongoing tension between Israel and Hezbollah raise concerns about escalating violence in the region.
