The family of Katherine Colon, who was struck and killed by a New Britain police cruiser one year ago, held a march and rally on Saturday demanding accountability for the officer involved in the incident. Officer Connor Reinsch, who was driving the cruiser, has been on restrictive duty since the incident occurred.
Despite a report from the state’s attorney office placing some blame on Colon for the crash, her family continues to push for the firing and decertification of Officer Reinsch. They assert that he should be held accountable for the actions that led to Colon’s death.
Katherine Colon’s oldest daughter, Maribel Rodriguez, expressed frustration with the judicial system for not holding Officer Reinsch accountable. She emphasized that her mother paid the ultimate price and they no longer have her with them.
The family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Officer Reinsch and the City of New Britain. They have vowed to continue holding rallies and protests until they see justice for Katherine Colon. Despite multiple attempts, the City of New Britain did not respond to requests for comment on the rally and protest.
The community has shown support for the Colon family as they seek justice in the tragic loss of Katherine Colon. The family remains determined to fight for accountability and closure in this case.
