The 12th annual ‘Hike to Remember’ in Glastonbury brought together hundreds of military heroes to hike 22 kilometers through town to raise awareness about veteran suicide. The event was organized by Manny Jimenez, a Marine Corps veteran and Purple Heart recipient, who was inspired to create a support system for veterans struggling with negative thoughts and feelings. The event has grown over the years, with more than 300 participants this year. Two sisters who serve in the military participated in the hike, highlighting the sense of camaraderie and support among veterans. The event was organized by the Marine Corps League to raise funds to provide resources for veterans in need. The hike aims to create a network of support for veterans and current service members, promoting a message of hope and solidarity. The event was described as one of the best military events by participants, who appreciated the sense of community and comradery. The goal of the ‘Hike to Remember’ is to honor fallen veterans and prevent further suicides, while also encouraging veterans to reach out for help when needed.
