Two women in Coventry, Conn., have been arrested this week on charges related to animal cruelty. Sandra Lis is facing 19 counts while Kristal Lis is facing 119 counts of animal cruelty. The arrests followed an investigation into a property on Dunn Road where more than a hundred animals were discovered by the Coventry police. These animals included horses, pigs, dogs, cats, rabbits, goats, and various birds and fowl. Additionally, eight deceased animals were found in the home’s freezer and sent to the University of Connecticut for necropsies.
The State Animal Control Unit and several other local animal control units assisted in the seizure of the animals, highlighting the widespread nature of the case. Both women were released on non-surety bonds and are scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 1.
This case is another example of law enforcement cracking down on animal cruelty and the importance of proper animal care. With the involvement of multiple agencies in the seizure and investigation, it is clear that the authorities are taking the issue seriously and working to protect the welfare of animals in the community. Public awareness and reporting of suspected animal cruelty cases remain crucial in preventing such incidents and holding those responsible accountable.
