Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill expressed his strong belief that the police officer involved in his recent traffic stop should be fired. Hill, known as “Cheetah” for his speed, was detained by Miami-Dade County police over careless driving and not wearing a seat belt. His teammates witnessed the incident and also felt disrespected by the officer. The officer, Danny Torres, was placed on administrative duty as the incident is being investigated. Hill’s lawyer stated that the decision to place the officer on leave was premature and called for a thorough and objective investigation. The police union has suggested that Hill was at fault for not being cooperative with officers. The Miami Dolphins voiced their sadness over the incident, calling the police conduct overly aggressive and violent. Hill admitted he could have handled the situation differently but still has respect for law enforcement. He emphasized that he did not want attention or cameras on him during the traffic stop but ultimately acknowledged the need to follow rules. Hill also stated that if he were not a famous football player, the interaction with the police may have resulted in him being shot or arrested. The investigation is ongoing, and Torres’s lawyer is advocating for his immediate reinstatement.
