Extensive investigation leads to rescue of 37 dogs from Wallingford residence

In an ongoing investigation, Wallingford Police and Animal Control removed 37 dogs from a private residence in Wallingford, Connecticut. The investigation was initiated in February 2023 after receiving an anonymous letter about suspicious barks and animal sounds coming from the residence on Benham Avenue. A search warrant was obtained for the home belonging to Judy Godek, 69, resulting in the discovery of the dogs living in unclean and unsafe conditions with matted fur and weak muscles. The animals were immediately examined by a veterinarian and placed in shelters in Meriden, North Haven, East Haven, and New London. However, the whereabouts of the poodles rescued during the operation remain unknown. The investigation is ongoing, and medical issues with the dogs still need to be addressed. Wallingford Police are working to ensure the safety and well-being of the animals removed from the residence.
