The Newington community is rallying behind the family of 12-year-old Regan Martins who passed away unexpectedly this summer. Students are showing their support by wearing pink, Regan’s favorite color, in her honor. Friends of Regan organized a pink lemonade stand, and a two-mile walk/run is scheduled on September 22nd at Newington High School’s track and field. The Martins family shared their heartbreaking story of Regan’s sudden death, which occurred hours after she complained of stomach pains. An autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of death. Regan is remembered by her parents, three sisters, and brother as a kind and loving child with a “gold heart.” Her younger sisters, Brooklyn and Peyton, expressed their love and admiration for Regan and how much they will miss her. The Newington community’s outpouring of support during this difficult time is a testament to the impact Regan had on those around her.
