Millions of Americans are expected to travel over the Labor Day weekend, with the Federal Aviation Administration predicting more than 17 million passengers at TSA checkpoints, an increase of about 8% from last year. Busier airports such as Atlanta, Chicago O’Hare, and Dallas Forth-Worth are expected to see higher traffic volumes, with JFK in New York also experiencing more international flights.
In Connecticut, Bradley International Airport experienced a couple of delays and one cancellation early Friday morning. Travelers are advised to have a back-up plan for cancellations and delays and to be patient during the long weekend.
For those hitting the road, AAA predicts the national average for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline to be $3.36, a decrease from last year’s $3.81. Experts recommend traveling in the morning or evening for the best experience.
If you plan to travel over the Labor Day weekend, be prepared for potential delays and cancellations, especially at busier airports. Keep an eye on gas prices and consider traveling during off-peak hours for a smoother journey.
