FIFA postpones review of Palestinian request to suspend Israel once more | Soccer News

The FIFA Council has postponed the decision on the Palestinian bid to suspend Israel from international football until October. The Palestine Football Association had submitted a proposal in May accusing the Israel Football Association of complicity in violations of international law, discrimination against Arab players, and including clubs in Palestinian territory in its league. FIFA had ordered a legal evaluation and promised to address the issue in July, but the assessment was delayed until October. The PFA claimed that at least 92 Palestinian players have been killed in the war, football infrastructure destroyed, leagues suspended, and the national team forced to play World Cup qualifiers abroad. The PFA called for FIFA to adopt sanctions against Israeli teams, including the national side and clubs. The IFA has denied the allegations. The war on Gaza has resulted in at least 40,691 deaths and 94,060 injuries, with 1,139 people killed in Israel during attacks led by Palestinian group Hamas. FIFA has received the legal assessment and will review it at the next council meeting in October. The details of the assessment and the exact date of the meeting have not been disclosed. The decision has sparked controversy and heightened tensions between the two football associations.
