A U.S. military operation in Anbar, Iraq on Thursday killed at least 15 Islamic State militants, including some leaders. Six U.S. soldiers were injured, with no life-threatening injuries reported. Some soldiers suffered possible traumatic brain injuries while one had external injuries. The operation was a partnered raid with Iraqi security forces, targeting ISIS leaders armed with weapons, grenades, and suicide belts. The goal was to disrupt and degrade ISIS’ ability to plan and conduct attacks against Iraqi civilians, U.S. citizens, and allies. The U.S. Central Command stated that there were no civilian casualties during the operation. Iraqi Security Forces are continuing to exploit the locations raided.
