Rice University junior Andrea Rodriguez Avila was found shot in her dorm room in Houston, with the suspect, whom she was dating, also found dead nearby. The suspect is believed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A note found at the scene suggested they were having relationship troubles. The suspect may be from Florida. The campus is safe and counseling is available for students. Jones College, where the incident occurred, was originally a women’s residence hall in 1957 and is now coeducational.
