The UConn men’s golf team has added Ferdinand Mueller as its new assistant coach. Mueller, a former professional golfer from Germany, impressed head coach Dave Pezzino with his player development focus and international playing experience. Prior to joining UConn, Mueller worked as a PGA Professional intern in Germany, collaborating with coaches to improve programs.
Mueller played college golf at Marquette University and Oklahoma State, where he earned Academic All-American honors. He then turned professional in 2021, competing on tours such as the Challenge Tour and the ProGolfTour. In 2023-24, he played on the Asian Tour and Thai PGA, also serving as a caddy on the LIV Golf Tour and International Series. His caddying experience included a victory for Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra at the St. Andrews Bay Championship in a 10-hole playoff.
Mueller holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. Coach Pezzino is excited to have him on board, citing his work ethic and attention to detail as valuable assets for the team. The addition of Mueller is expected to enhance the program and benefit the student-athletes. UConn fans are looking forward to seeing the positive impact Mueller will have on the team as they strive for success in collegiate golf.
