Woman from New Jersey charged after dangerously climbing over zoo fence and narrowly escaping tiger

A 24-year-old woman named Zyair J. Dennis from Millville, New Jersey has been charged with defiant trespassing and violating city ordinances after climbing over a barrier at the Cohanzick Zoo in Bridgeton. She was caught on video approaching a caged tiger and bear, attempting to pet the animals despite clear barriers in place. The tiger reacted aggressively by moving its jaws towards her, causing her to quickly retract her hand and step away. Dennis is scheduled to appear in municipal court next month, and it is not known if she has retained legal representation. This incident is similar to a 2019 incident at the Bronx Zoo where a woman entered the lion enclosure and stood dangerously close to one of the lions. Both incidents highlight the dangers of trespassing at zoos and the importance of respecting safety barriers put in place to protect both visitors and animals.
