Last week, devastating flooding hit western Connecticut, leaving many residents with the daunting task of rebuilding their lives. Homes, roads, parks, and neighborhoods were destroyed, leaving memories washed away in the unprecedented downpours.
Erin Schumacher, a Woodbury resident, couldn’t stand by and watch her community suffer. Setting up a community food drive in Southbury, she partnered with Save Your Scissors Salon to collect clothing for those in need. The response was overwhelming, with thousands of items donated in just a few hours.
The outpouring of support from the community was heartwarming, with people coming together to help those affected by the flooding. Schumacher was moved by the generosity of strangers and the impact they were able to make in a short amount of time.
All the donated items were delivered to the Southbury Food Bank, where those in need can go for assistance. The drive not only helped provide essential items for those affected by the flooding but also brought the community together in a time of need.
As residents in western Connecticut continue to pick up the pieces after the devastating floods, the support and generosity shown by individuals like Schumacher and those who donated to the drive serve as a reminder that even in the face of tragedy, communities can come together to help one another rebuild and heal.
