South Windsor High School is launching a new artificial intelligence platform called “Magic School” this school year. The platform, similar to ChatGPT but with stricter privacy standards, will provide teachers and students with a unique educational tool.
Tech coach Ed Duclos believes that Magic School has the potential to redefine classroom learning. Students can use Magic Student as a tutor to gain a deeper understanding of the material, asking questions they may not have felt comfortable asking in class. Teachers can also use the platform to personalize instruction for each student.
While there are concerns about AI being misused, Duclos believes that introducing AI in a school setting provides an opportunity to teach responsible and ethical use of these tools. He emphasizes the importance of ongoing conversations and sharing experiences to ensure successful integration of AI into the classroom.
South Windsor High School’s proactive approach to embracing AI in education sets it apart from other school districts that have attempted to shut down similar technologies. By empowering teachers and students with Magic School, the school is opening up a world of possibilities for enhancing the educational experience.
