British singer Lily Allen is defending her decision to return an adopted puppy after receiving backlash and death threats online. Allen explained on Instagram that the dog had behavior issues, including eating her family’s passports, making it impossible for her children to visit their father in England. Despite working with a trainer and a behavioral specialist, Allen and her husband, David Harbour, ultimately decided that the dog, named Mary, was not a good fit for their home.
Allen clarified that she has a history of rescuing dogs and has never mistreated an animal. She urged her followers to not believe clickbait articles and to do their own research before jumping to conclusions. On her podcast, Allen had originally explained the situation behind returning the dog, emphasizing the difficulties caused by the passport incident.
In a hopeful turn of events, Allen shared that her family may be getting a new puppy soon, a Chihuahua mix that she and her daughters are excited about. Despite the negative attention, Allen remains strong, saying that she and her family are doing okay, but the past few days have been tough. She hopes that by setting the record straight, she can move past the controversy and focus on giving a new rescue dog a loving home.
