Tyler Van Dyke, a Miami transfer, has been named Wisconsin’s starting quarterback for the upcoming season after a competition with Braedyn Locke. Van Dyke, originally from Glastonbury, attended Suffield Academy before college. With impressive stats and accolades from his time at Miami, including being the ACC rookie of the year in 2021, Van Dyke looks to lead the Badgers to a successful season.
Wisconsin, who went 7-6 last year under Luke Fickell, will open their season by hosting Western Michigan on August 30. Van Dyke’s progress was acknowledged by offensive coordinator Phil Longo, who commended Locke’s efforts as well, noting that the competition for the starting quarterback position was close.
Longo described the situation as a “1-A and 1-B type of situation” rather than a clear No. 1 and No. 2, indicating the high level of performance from both quarterbacks. Van Dyke’s completion rate and touchdown to interception ratio from his time at Miami show his potential to be a strong leader on the field for Wisconsin.
The Badgers are aiming for a successful season, with Van Dyke at the helm, as they look to make an impact in their upcoming games. With a strong offense and clear determination, Wisconsin is ready to hit the field with Van Dyke leading the way.
