Newington Mourns the Loss of Former Student known for Kindness
The Newington community is reeling after the unexpected passing of former Martin Kellogg Middle School student Regan Martins on August 9th. The 12-year-old is remembered as a kind, warm spirit who lit up the hallways with her smile, according to school principal Jason Lambert.
Tributes poured in from across the community following Martins’ passing, with pink lights being put up in her honor. Shelly Monica, who knew Martins personally through the school’s drama club, was one of the first to put up lights at her house. The Newington Volunteer Fire Department also joined in lighting up their locations.
Even those who did not know Martins personally joined in to support her family during this difficult time. Caitlyn Kostelis, a member of the Newington community, emphasized the importance of supporting a family that has lost a child, showing the outpouring of love and sympathy for the Martins family.
Monica and the Newington community are now calling on everyone to light their houses or businesses pink in honor of Martins, showcasing the unity and support of the local community in remembering a young girl who left an indelible mark with her kindness and spirit. Martin’s legacy of kindness is sure to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
