A young girl was attacked by a black bear in Montana, prompting authorities to euthanize the animal. The attack took place inside a tent at a private campground south of Red Lodge in Carbon County. The girl, whose age and condition have not been released, was hospitalized in Billings. It was reported that the child was 3 years old. Authorities believe that unsecured items at the campsite attracted the bear. The black bear responsible for the attack was captured and euthanized by the state’s Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks. The agency is expected to provide more information about the incident in the coming days. The campground where the attack occurred is located about 70 miles south of the Northeast entrance to Yellowstone Park.
