The University of Connecticut Huskies have announced Ashley Buschgans as their new assistant softball coach. Buschgans, a former standout player at the University of Nebraska, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Huskies’ coaching staff.
Buschgans was a key player for the Cornhuskers during her time as a student-athlete, earning numerous accolades and awards for her performance on the field. After graduating, she went on to play professionally before transitioning into coaching.
In her new role as assistant coach at UConn, Buschgans will work closely with head coach, Laura Valentino, in developing and mentoring the team’s players. She will be responsible for assisting with recruiting efforts, organizing practices, and providing guidance and support to the student-athletes both on and off the field.
“I am thrilled to join the UConn softball program and help build upon the success that Coach Valentino has already achieved,” said Buschgans. “I am excited to work with the talented group of student-athletes here and help them reach their full potential both as players and individuals.”
Valentino expressed her excitement at having Buschgans join the coaching staff, citing her passion for the game and her ability to connect with players as key qualities that will benefit the team.
