Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass will be arriving at LAX on Monday afternoon with the official Olympic flag, which she received from Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo at the Paris Olympics Closing Ceremony. The flag will be taken to Los Angeles City Hall and raised at the main venue during the 2028 Olympics, making it the third time LA has hosted the event. The historic exchange of the flag marks an important moment between two female mayors.
Tom Cruise was originally thought to have transported the flag to LA during the Opening Ceremony, but it was revealed to be a Hollywood magic trick. The Coliseum will once again host track and field competitions and Olympic ceremonies, making it the only venue to do so three times. The Olympic flag itself was created in 1914 in Paris to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Olympic movement.
Stay tuned for live updates on the official Olympic flag’s arrival in Los Angeles and watch the live coverage of the flag’s arrival at LAX, as well as a news conference. This marks an exciting start to the preparations for the 2028 Olympics, which will showcase the spirit of the games in the city of LA once again.
