A young male shepherd was found abandoned on the side of Route 8 in Beacon Falls, Connecticut over the weekend, officials from Woodbridge Regional Animal Control reported. The shepherd was discovered tied up with a prong collar and no food or water, in a state described as “skin and bones.” State troopers were contacted by a driver who spotted the abandoned dog near Exit 25 on Route 8 southbound, leading to animal control being notified.
The shepherd is currently not up for adoption as the investigation into who is responsible for his abandonment and neglect is ongoing. This incident comes after dozens of animals were rescued from harsh conditions in Woodbridge, emphasizing the importance of responsible pet ownership and care.
