Grant Fisher from USA makes a historic comeback to win 5000m medal at Olympics – NBC Connecticut

American runner Grant Fisher made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics by becoming the first American man to medal in both the 5000m and 10,000m events at the same Games. The 27-year-old athlete secured his second medal of the Olympics by winning bronze in the men’s 5000m final with a time of 13:15.13. Fisher’s impressive finish on the final straightaway saw him pass multiple runners to claim the third spot on the podium.

Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigtsen clinched the gold in the 5000m event, followed by Kenya’s Ronald Kwemoi in second place. Ingebrigtsen, who failed to defend his title in the 1500m race, redeemed himself with a strong performance in the 5000m.

Fisher’s bronze in the 5000m final added to his earlier success in the 10,000m event, where he also won a bronze medal on August 2. After a disappointing Olympic debut in Tokyo, Fisher is now returning to his home in Portland as a two-time Olympic medalist.

The Paris Olympics have been filled with excitement and drama across 32 sports and 329 medal events. Fans can catch all the action live on NBC and stay updated with the latest Olympic headlines. Fisher’s impressive performances at the Games solidify his place in Olympic history as a standout American runner.
