Hamden native Alexis Holmes and Team USA secured a gold medal in the women’s 4×400 final at the recent Paris competition. The team, consisting of Holmes, Shamier Little, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, and Gabby Thomas, finished with a time of 3:15.27. This victory was a stellar performance that outshined the Netherlands and Great Britain who won silver and bronze, respectively.
Holmes also participated in the women’s 400-meter final, where she finished in sixth place but managed to achieve a personal best time of 49.77 seconds. The 2018 Cheshire Academy graduate expressed her pride and gratitude at being able to represent Team USA, Connecticut, and her hometown of Hamden on an international stage.
The competition in Paris showcased Holmes’ incredible talent and determination, as she continued to improve and excel throughout the event. Her success in the 4×400 final, alongside her personal best performance in the 400-meter final, highlights her dedication and skill as an athlete.
