NBC Connecticut reports that Biden is ‘not confident at all’ in a peaceful transfer of power if Trump loses election

In a recent interview with CBS News, President Joe Biden expressed his lack of confidence in a peaceful transfer of power if former President Donald Trump loses the election in the fall. Biden cited Trump’s past comments about a potential “bloodbath” if he were to lose, stating that people were not taking them seriously. Trump had previously warned that losing the election would result in a “bloodbath for the country.”

Biden also highlighted concerns about efforts to complicate post-election certification processes, referencing a recent decision by the Republican-controlled State Election Board in Georgia to give more power to local officials in certifying election results. Trump had supported this decision. Biden’s narrow victory over Trump in Georgia in 2020 marked the first time a Democratic presidential nominee won the state since 1992.

Trump’s refusal to accept the 2024 election results if they are not deemed fair and legal has raised concerns about how he would respond to a potential loss. Trump’s comments about the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021, have further fueled these concerns, with him referring to the day as “a beautiful day” and praising those involved in the attack. He has also promised to pardon individuals facing convictions related to the attack if he is re-elected in November.

Biden’s full interview with CBS is set to air on Sunday, shedding more light on his concerns and highlighting the potential challenges in ensuring a peaceful transfer of power in the upcoming election.
