Day 10 of the Olympics saw Simone Biles’ final competition in Paris, where she was edged out for a gold medal in the floor exercise final. Biles won silver, bringing her total Olympic medals to 11. Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade won gold, becoming her country’s most decorated Olympian. Biles reflected on her accomplishments and expressed pride in herself.
In track and field, Americans Gabby Thomas, McKenzie Long, and Brittany Brown qualified for the 200-meter final. Gabby Thomas won bronze in Tokyo and will face tough competition in the final. Sweden’s Armand Duplantis set a world record in the men’s pole vault, adding to his collection of gold medals.
In men’s soccer, Spain and France advanced to the final for the gold medal. Spain defeated Morocco, while France needed extra time to beat Egypt. The final will be Spain’s fifth appearance in the Olympics.
On the beach, Canada eliminated the US in the round of 16 in two sets. The American men, however, fared better, advancing to the quarterfinals and semifinals.
Upcoming highlights include the women’s 200-meter final, men’s basketball quarterfinals, men’s 1,500-meter, men’s long jump, and the women’s skateboarding park final. Other sports like volleyball, table tennis, boxing, and handball will also continue with competitive action.
