Brazilian table tennis star Bruna Alexandre is making history at the 2024 Paris Olympics by becoming the first Brazilian to compete at both the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Despite only having one arm, Alexandre competes with the same intensity as other players, showcasing her skill with a unique move when serving.
In the Olympics, Alexandre faced a tough competitor in South Korea and although Brazil lost, Alexandre is proud of her achievements and the barriers she has broken for her country. Now, she is shifting her focus to the Paralympic Games, where she is looking to add another medal to her collection.
Having lost her arm at just 3 months old due to a blood clot, Alexandre started playing table tennis at the age of 7 and has been very successful in the sport. With a Paralympic bronze medal from Rio 2016 and a silver from Tokyo 2020, she is determined to prove that anything is possible, regardless of physical challenges.
As she prepares for the upcoming Paralympic Games in Paris, Alexandre’s message to others is to never give up on their dreams, emphasizing that with belief and hard work, anything can be achieved. The Paralympic Games are set to take place from Aug. 28 to Sept. 8, where Alexandre will continue to inspire others with her determination and skill on the table tennis court.
