NBC Connecticut reports discovery of two credit card skimmers at Montville 7/11

A 7/11 store in Montville, Connecticut, is the latest victim of credit card skimmers being attached to its registers. The police were contacted by store employees after a customer spotted skimming devices on two credit card terminals. Surveillance footage is now being reviewed by store employees to determine when and by whom the skimmers were placed. It remains unclear how long the skimmers had been active before being discovered.

Authorities are urging customers who made credit card purchases at the Montville 7/11 to monitor their bank statements for any suspicious activity. This incident is part of a statewide increase in skimming devices being found at various retailers. Recently, skimming devices were discovered at a gas station ATM in Fairfield, Big Y locations in Plainville and Naugatuck, as well as Walmart stores in Naugatuck, Stratford, and Cromwell. A credit card skimmer was also found at LaBonne’s Markets in Prospect.

Police are asking the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to credit card skimmers. Customers are encouraged to take precautions such as checking for any unusual devices attached to card terminals before making a transaction. Retailers are advised to regularly inspect their equipment for any signs of tampering.
