Connecticut voters are gearing up for the upcoming state primary election, which will include early voting for the first time ever. The state primary is scheduled for Tuesday, August 13, with early voting starting on Monday, August 5, and ending on Sunday, August 11. This new early voting process aims to provide more options for voters and make the voting experience more comfortable for everyone.
To participate in early voting, individuals must vote in person at designated locations during specific hours. Voters must also be registered party members in order to cast their ballots in the primary. Those who are not already registered with a party can still enroll by the deadline to be eligible for early voting.
The Connecticut Secretary of State Stephanie Thomas is encouraging all eligible voters to take advantage of the early voting period and exercise their right to vote. Information on early voting locations and hours can be found online, along with a voter fact sheet provided by the state.
Governor Ned Lamont signed legislation last June to expand early voting access to Connecticut, making it one of only four states that had not implemented early voting before. Now, Connecticut voters have more ways to participate in the democratic process and make their voices heard. It is an exciting time for Connecticut voters as Decision 2024 approaches.
