Many participants, including cancer survivors like Chris Calby and Derek Yach, have personal experiences with the disease, making the event particularly meaningful for them. Joey Nizzardo won the race for the second year in a row, swimming in honor of his grandfather who is battling multiple myeloma. The event brought together 400 volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure its success while keeping the focus on supporting cancer patients and their families.
Despite the threat of severe weather that prevented some swimmers from finishing, the event was a testament to the dedication and perseverance of all involved.
