Limited sunshine but a focus on increased severe weather this Sunday!

Severe thunderstorms rolled through southwestern Connecticut on Saturday afternoon, causing widespread damage with strong winds, fallen trees, and power outages. The storms also brought lightning, hail, and local flooding, closing roads and creating dangerous conditions. The area is bracing for potentially more severe weather today and in the coming days, with the possibility of damaging winds, hail, and flooding in the strongest storms.

A front from the north may stall in Connecticut from Tuesday to Friday, coinciding with the approach of a possible tropical system late next week. This system, currently Tropical Storm Debby, is forecasted to become a Hurricane and make its way up the Eastern Seaboard after hitting the Big Bend Area of Florida. Residents are advised to stay informed and prepared for potential impacts from this storm.

Today, the weather will not be as hot as temperatures reach the 80s, but there is a chance of severe thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Tomorrow, expect mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, followed by showers and thundershowers on Tuesday and Wednesday. The weather will remain unsettled through the week, with a continued threat of storms and the potential for a stalled front and tropical system to impact the region. Stay tuned for updates and be prepared for changing conditions.
