NBC Connecticut asks: Where did Team USA gymnastics go during the Opening Ceremony?


Despite the absence of a few North Texas athletes at the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony, Team USA’s gymnasts are focused and ready to compete. USA Gymnastics announced that both the men’s and women’s teams opted to skip the ceremony in order to prepare for their upcoming events.

Plano’s Asher Hong and his male teammates will kick off their competition on Saturday, while Plano-transplant Hezly Rivera and gymnastics superstar Simone Biles will start their rotations on Sunday. Although they missed the festivities in Paris, the athletes still donned their Opening Ceremony attire designed by Ralph Lauren.

The decision to forgo the Opening Ceremony in favor of focusing on their competitions shows the dedication and determination of these athletes. With their eyes set on the podium, Team USA’s gymnasts are ready to showcase their skills and bring home medals for their country.
