UConn Beats USC, Advances to Final Four After ending USC’s meteoric rise to national championship contention, UConn’s Paige Bueckers led her team to an 80-73 victory in the Portland 3 Regional final. UConn will face Iowa in the Final Four, while USC saw their dream season under JuJu Watkins come to an end. Watkins, who chose USC over established programs, helped the Trojans reach their first Elite Eight since 1994 and their first Pac-12 title since 2014.
In baseball, the Los Angeles Dodgers secured an 8-3 win over the San Francisco Giants behind a strong performance from James Paxton and a three-run homer from Teoscar Hernández. Meanwhile, in NBA news, Russell Westbrook confronted a fan during half-time of a game in Charlotte after feeling disrespected by the crowd.
On the hockey front, the Winnipeg Jets snapped a six-game losing streak by defeating the LA Kings 4-3, with Cole Perfetti scoring twice to lead his team to victory. In other sports news, Mike Trout hit two homers to help the Angels come from behind to beat the Miami Marlins 7-4.
In other news, USC men’s basketball coach Andy Enfield has left the program after 11 years to take over at Southern Methodist, following a successful but ultimately disappointing tenure with the Trojans. The team is now searching for a new head coach to lead them into the future.
